Tous deux sont n\u00e9s presque simultan\u00e9ment (le FAFL en Juillet 1940 et l&#8217;AAA en D\u00e9cembre de cette ann\u00e9e) et \u00e9galement finirent dans un avenir proche, l&#8217;AAA en D\u00e9cembre 1942 et FAFL en Ao\u00fbt 1943, quand il a fusionn\u00e9 avec ce qui restait de l&#8217;Arm\u00e9e de l&#8217;Air en Afrique du Nord. En avant la France aura une aviation unique (officieusement appel\u00e9 l&#8217;Arm\u00e9e de l&#8217;air de la Victorie ou de la Lib\u00e9ration)<\/p>\n<p>La vie de la FAFL n&#8217;a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 facile. Jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 ce que les tables ont \u00e9t\u00e9 tourn\u00e9es \u00e0 la fin de 1942, le r\u00e9gime de Vichy incarnait la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et la l\u00e9gitimit\u00e9, tandis que De Gaulle et ses partisans \u00e9taient une organisation pr\u00e9caire aliment\u00e9e par une puissance \u00e9trang\u00e8re, la Grande-Bretagne. Les premiers avions de la FAFL \u00e9taient britanniques, et elle a peu \u00e0 peu gonfl\u00e9 leurs chiffres avec les avions am\u00e9ricains et de l&#8217;AAA, au pas que les colonies fran\u00e7aises de Vichy se rendirent \u00e0 Londres. Les colonies ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mal \u00e9quip\u00e9s avec de mat\u00e9riel a\u00e9ronautique, mais la Syrie a \u00e9t\u00e9 une exception, avec des unit\u00e9s tr\u00e8s puissantes bas\u00e9es principalement en D.520.
