Lo que hasta entonces hab\u00edan sido incursiones aisladas y bombardeos espor\u00e1dicos se convirti\u00f3 en una carnicer\u00eda en Meggido (Nablus, en Palestina) en septiembre de 1918, cuando los aviones brit\u00e1nicos y de los Dominios atacaron repetidas veces a las fuerzas turcas en retirada, que a esas alturas carec\u00edan casi por completo de aviaci\u00f3n. Uno de estos ataques se sald\u00f3 con una masacre, cuando se juntaron gran cantidad de fuerzas otomanas atrapadas en un desfiladero a la salida de Nablus con una fuerza considerable de aviones australianos armados con bombas y ametralladoras. La cabeza y la cola del convoy fueron acribillados al comienzo para inmovilizar todo lo que estaba en medio, y a continuaci\u00f3n los aviones volaron sobre las desguarnecidas tropas soltando sus bombas y haciendo fuego de ametralladora.
