Este ditirambo demuestra que la aviaci\u00f3n francesa se sent\u00eda orgiullosa de su \u00faltima producci\u00f3n, el modelo 338 de Dewoitine, un estilizado trimotor de pasajeros. No obstante se trataba de un dise\u00f1o obsoleto, poco aer\u00f3din\u00e1mico con su fuselaje de secci\u00f3n casi cuadrada y adem\u00e1s trimotor, muy alejado del DC-3 y de los dise\u00f1os de Boeing.<\/p>\n<p>El 338 fue el elegido para inaugurar la l\u00ednea de enlace entre la metr\u00f3poli y su colonia de Indochina. El primer vuelo se hizo en agosto de 1938 en el <em>Ville de Vientiane<\/em>, dur\u00f3 seis d\u00edas y necesit\u00f3 18 escalas (2).<\/p>\n<p>Llev\u00f3 diez a\u00f1os establecer y consolidar la l\u00ednea Marsella \u2013 Hanoi, que comenz\u00f3 con los trabajos de Air Orient en 1927. La ruta definitiva ten\u00eda 13.500 km. Se intent\u00f3 acortar el rodeo por Rang\u00fan y Bangkok, investigando la posibilidad de un enlace directo Calcuta \u2013 Mandalay- Hanoi. En febrero de 1936, el jefe-piloto Winckler, con \u201cun equipo de cinco hombres <em>et quelques coolies engag\u00e9s sur place<\/em>\u201d sali\u00f3 de Hanoi para investigar la nueva ruta, pero se dio por vencido unos d\u00edas despu\u00e9s de sobrevolar las mesetas del Alto Mekong y las monta\u00f1as de Birmania (3).<\/p>\n<p>(1) Air France Revue, hiver 1936-1937.<br \/>\n(2) <a href=\"http:\/\/francehongkong.blogspot.com.es\/2008\/08\/10-aot-1938-premire-liaison-commerciale.html\">4 ao\u00fbt 1938 : premi\u00e8re liaison commerciale d\u2019Air France.
