El aeroplano de Barr\u00f3n era una copia del modelo austr\u00edaco Lohner Pfeilflieger que estaba en servicio con la Aviaci\u00f3n militar desde 1913, y que hab\u00eda causado buena impresi\u00f3n en Marruecos. El motor era un Hispano Suiza, dise\u00f1ado en Barcelona por Marc Birkgit, ingeniero suizo de la casa. El motor era ligero y seguro, y se fabricaron unos 50.000 durante la primera guerra mundial con destino a las aviaciones aliadas.
