Felizmente para los berlineses, la guerra acab\u00f3 antes de que el monstruo consiguiera ser operativo, pero fu\u00e9 el comienzo de la larga saga de aviones espec\u00edficamente dise\u00f1ados para bombardear determinadas ciudades (puede decirse que no hubo ninguna gran ciudad europea que no tuviera su modelo asignado, e incluso Nueva York tuvo uno).<\/p>\n<p>El concepto se llam\u00f3 inicialmente bloody paraliser (paralizador sangriento) y se tradujo en la pr\u00e1ctica en una serie de grandes bombarderos fabricados por Handley Page. El \u00fatimo y mayor de todos ellos, el V\/1500, ten\u00eda cuatro motores y pod\u00eda volar mil kil\u00f3metros con tres toneladas de bombas. Cuando se firm\u00f3 el Armisticio, en noviembre de 1918, s\u00f3lo tres V\/1500 del total de 255 previstos hab\u00edan llegado a la unidad de la RAF que deb\u00eda emplearlos para bombardear Berl\u00edn, desde su base en Bircham Newton (East Anglia).
