El artista ha representado un paisaje urbano e industrial sobre el que caen las bombas de los aviones, representados como veloces\u00a0 y mort\u00edferas aves de presa. Publicados en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flightglobal.com\/pdfarchive\/\"><em>Flight<\/em> <\/a>el 5 de noviembre y el 3 de diciembre de 1942. (el 13 de agosto de ese a\u00f1o el Lancaster acababa de entrar en servicio y la misma revista public\u00f3 un detallado reportaje sobre el avi\u00f3n, repleto de ilustraciones t\u00e9cnicas, sorprendente en tiempo de guerra). Para finales de 1942 el Lancaster ya era la superarma brit\u00e1nica, un avi\u00f3n dise\u00f1ado para acarrear cantidades enormes de bombas explosivas e incendiarias sobre las ciudades alemanas.
