As\u00ed se inici\u00f3 la actividad de A\u00e9romaritime, la aerol\u00ednea pionera en la AOF y la AEF (\u00c1frica Occidental y Ecuatorial Francesa). Tras una laboriosa construcci\u00f3n de rutas todo acab\u00f3 cuando comenz\u00f3 la guerra mundial. En 1949 la compa\u00f1\u00eda volvi\u00f3 a funcionar, bajo el nombre de UAT (Union A\u00e9romaritime de Transport).<\/p>\n<p>En 1955 cubr\u00eda tanto la AOF como la AEF con una densa red de trayectos, cubiertos por la versi\u00f3n del de Havilland Heron con tren de aterrizaje fijo, muy apropiado para servicio colonial en aeropuertos poco equipados. Las l\u00edneas de largo recorrido, que culminaban en la capital de la metr\u00f3poli, en concreto en la Aerogare de los Inv\u00e1lidos, utilizaban Super DC-6. La compa\u00f1\u00eda se anunciaba con el lema \u00abLe Relais des Africains \u00e0 Paris\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Pero no solamente trabajaba en \u00c1frica; dem\u00e1s de la red densa en AOF y AEF, UAT manten\u00eda una l\u00ednea Par\u00eds-Saig\u00f3n, lo que la convert\u00eda en una de las principales l\u00edneas del Imperio (llamado por entonces Uni\u00f3n Francesa) de la \u00e9poca. Apenas una d\u00e9cada tras su creaci\u00f3n, UAT tropez\u00f3 con la independencia en masa de las colonias europeas en \u00c1frica y se transmut\u00f3 en Air Afrique, aerol\u00ednea de bandera com\u00fan de los nuevos pa\u00edses procedentes de la AOF y la AEF.
