Se trata del biplano pintado de amarillo de <em>Memorias de \u00c1frica<\/em> en el que el prota, Robert Redford interpretando a Denys Finch Hatton, lleva dar una vuelta a la prota, Meryl Streep en el papel de Karen Blixen. El avi\u00f3n remonta el vuelo y \u00c1frica entera se despliega bajo sus alas, un paisaje perfecto, incontaminado por la actividad humana, un jard\u00edn del ed\u00e9n. Finch Hatton era un arist\u00f3crata brit\u00e1nico educado en Eton, con un punto exc\u00e9ntrico que le hizo irse a vivir a Kenya y dedicarse profesionalmente a organizar safaris, uno de ellos para el pr\u00edncipe de Gales, el luego ef\u00edmero rey Eduardo VIII. Consigui\u00f3 el t\u00edtulo de piloto y en 1929 se hizo traer de Inglaterra su propio avi\u00f3n, un de Havilland DH.60 Moth.<\/p>\n<p>Por aquellos a\u00f1os los brit\u00e1nicos cre\u00edan firmemente que Kenya ser\u00eda suya para siempre y que incluso parte de ella ser\u00eda un colonia de poblamiento, como Australia o Nueva Zelanda. Se refer\u00edan a las tierras altas, de clima fresco y gran riqueza agr\u00edcola a base de caf\u00e9, t\u00e9 y otros cultivos de exportaci\u00f3n. Los kikuyu fueron expropiados en masa y pasaron a ser mano de obra barata, campesinos sin tierras. En una de las plantaciones de caf\u00e9 de la regi\u00f3n vivi\u00f3 la Karen Blixen real, cuyas memorias pasaron a cine en 1985 e hicieron inmortal a Denys Finch Hatton, sobre todo en la famosa \u00abescena del avi\u00f3n\u00bb. Por entonces \u00c1frica todav\u00eda era en apariencia un maravilloso lugar, un tranquilo parque donde los animales salvajes abundaban m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de todo conteo, los europeos estaban en su sitio y los nativos tambi\u00e9n conoc\u00edan el suyo.
