CSA se fundó en 1923 como aerolínea estatal de ChecoSlovaquia (la S de CSA), siendo así una de las más antiguas del mundo. Absorbida por Lufthansa en 1939, reanudó actividad en 1946 y fue nacionalizada en 1949. Convertida en aerolínea del bloque comunista, adquirió la secuencia de aviones de pasajeros soviéticos estándar, incluyendo el Tu-124, un derivado del Tu-104, a su vez una versión civil del bombardero Tu-16.
CSA was founded in 1923 as the state airline of CzechoSlovakia (the S of CSA), thus being one of the oldest in the world. Absorbed by Lufthansa in 1939, it resumed activity in 1946 and was nationalized in 1949. Converted in a communist block typical airline, it acquired the sequence of standard Soviet passenger aircraft, including the Tu-124, a derivative of the Tu-104, in turn a civilian version of the Tu-16 bomber.
